Celebrating 50 Years of Inspiring Wonder
In 2026, the North Carolina Aquariums celebrate 50 years of connecting people to the aquatic life that defines our state. This milestone marks five decades of discovery, learning, and care – and a full year of opportunities to celebrate together.
Throughout the anniversary year, visitors are invited to explore special events, experiences, and moments happening across all Aquarium locations. Whether you’re returning to a favorite place or visiting for the first time, there’s never been a better time to join in.
The Aquariums
Part of the North Carolina Department of Natural & Cultural Resources, the North Carolina Aquariums include four coastal destinations. Together, they welcome more than a million visitors each year and lead important work in animal care, education, and conservation across North Carolina.
The Society
The North Carolina Aquarium Society is the nonprofit partner that supports and advances the work of the Aquariums. Through private fundraising, the Society helps expand exhibits, strengthen educational programs, and support conservation initiatives across all locations.
Together, the Aquariums and the Society are celebrating the past, engaging communities today, and building momentum for the next 50 years – inviting everyone to visit, participate, and be part of what comes next.
